Why not use Windows 7 built in iso burner software?

Maybe OP doesnt have Win 7?

I do and I use it but I dont have very specific needs. In the days of broadband and huge flash drives I try to do as little with discs as possible. You can get 16GB sticks dirt cheap now. Most of my school work is emailed. Our college uses Gmail so online document work is generally the most convenient way to get stuff done.

poweriso all the way. installs fast, runs light and works every time. i run it unregistered indefinitely. i burn iso's and run as many virtual drives as i want.

Well this isn't a question for the computer with specs listed in my signature - nonetheless, both computers in question have Windows 7. Although, while mine is Professional, the computer needing ISO burning software has Home Premium. Does that matter?

That computer also has Nero 9 (?) - whatever Nero version they were throwing in with DVD burners this past winter. As I don't have that program, I wasn't sure if it would burn ISOs.

Ok, where can I find step-by-step how to burn an ISO from Windows 7? I've used Windows 7's burning capabilities before, but never for an ISO. Thanks!

Any burning software should burn ISOs, the menu may not be obvious but it's there because an ISO is just an image of the ISO9660 filesystem which is what it creates before burning the disc anyway.

In Win7, I believe if you just double-click an ISO by default it'll ask to burn it. Otherwise, it should be on the right-click menu.

I have UltraISO and PowerISO installed on my computer. Also IMGBURN (I like to use that with DVDFAB) .. for free, you can't beat IMGBURN, but for folks that are not computer savvy, they may want something like Nero or Roxio as they are somewhat more novice friendly. But they are costly and take up a lot of install room and sometimes, have product activation issues.
