I am a gamer that alway have one of my Game's DVD in my DVD drive. And I foudn a lot of them get scretch up easy....I am trying to find out which drive i should buy for making backup copys of my original disc so I do not need to use my original DVD all scretch up by playing my games....and games are not cheap. Which one is my best bet? I am thinking about the LG 4163B and Lite-on 1693S......any other advice? Thank you!!!

The BenQ and NEC seem to be favoured right now. I personally have an LG 4163B and I love it. Make sure you download the region-free and riplock firmware for it. I have a four-year-old LG CDRW here, still works perfectly, very reliable products.

couldn't you just use no-cd patches? they don't hinder gaming online since you have a valid key. in fact, my copy of bf2 hasn't ever been out of the package, i used a friends dvd to install it and my code and then the no-cd setup with daemon tools and antiblaxx.

my nec 3540 sure is a beaut. throw a moded firmware on it, and you'll have riplock and region free options. its like 40 shipped at the egg and runs great. pick up some of that cheap ridata/ritek media, i've never got a coster from them, 100+ burns.

Plextor is the bomb. Yes, other brands share the guts, but I haven't seen anyone else put out a SATA drive. And Plextools kicks butt, too. I'll stick with my Sexy Plexy, thanks.
