If you want to stick with crutchfield for support and them being an authorized dealer (dunno if woofersetc is), look at fatwallet for a $50 off $250 coupon code.
The infinities are supposedly very clean. I would have gone with one if I hadn't scored a refurb viper for half the price.
Would be concerned about driving the subs properly .. what do you have them hooked up to now?

You can eat 2 footlong subs? Geez, you must be a big boy. What's an amp? Is that like a new type of meat?

I would go with a JBL or JL amp (same thing). Infinity has nice subs, but JBL makes one of the top amps. Just my 2 watts.

I haven't been into the car audio scene for a while...but I would have to disagree.

So you're giving each sub ~300 watts with the amp you posted?

That will probably sound pretty nice, not sure if money is an issue or not, but i'd go with one with a little more output if you're running 2 12s.

Heh? how are they the same thing? I much much prefer JL audio to JBL for amps- huge diff. between the two.

Just for the record I love car audio for sale forums. I got a brand new shrink wrapped Rockford Fosgate T10001BD which is usually around $700 new, for $300 + shipping.

Also, to answer the post- I am running one 12" sub that has about 1000watts RMS and am using this amp- bridged it's at 800w RMSx1 (at least, usually underrated)
I have been very pleased.
Rockford

You can get it cheaper from other sites too.

p.s. if i have 2 subs, wire them in parallel to a Mono amp, which puts out say 1400 watts RMS bridged....does that mean each sub gets 1400 watts, or the output of the amp is 1400 watts, and each sub gets 700?

also: so i wire my 2 12" polk 4 ohm subs in parallel...hook them to this 2 ohm amp, and it won't blow them right?

Your speakers should be fine as long as you don't clip the amp. The amp can handle a 2 ohms load, at 657 watts, so that won't be a problem. Your subs are rated at 400 watt continuous at 4 ohms, so they should be happy with 328 watts each. My concern would be how well that amp deals with the extra heat a 2 ohm load would produce. You don't want it cutting off on you all the time.

You should send your question to Crutchfield, and see what they say.

I think I have 25 watts going to my subs - and they are in an infinate baffle.
My system plays virtually flat - which really means that it plays louder on the low end and quiter on the high end - 1 bd/octave slope

I can't see the point in more power than that.
I can empirically see on my Audio Controll RTA, that I have plenty of power across the spectrum.

thanks!

they actually must've nerfed the DX's at some point, i have the manual at home that has them handling 800 RMS, 1000 peak, or 600/800 I can't remember which. The amp is rated to 2 ohms, so I'll have to see how it works..unless there's a way i can hook up both subs at 4 ohm??

What sub do you have that 25 watts is enough? How low does it go?

You definition of flat is flawed. A system that is flat would reproduce all the musically relevant tones at the same volume. How did you determine your system was virtually flat?

You could buy a two channel amp, or get another 611a.

Well, Flat is flat, and folks talk about it like that is the goal.
However, if you ever heard a system set so you get a flat response on an RTA, you would hate it.
It is way way too harsh.
I got my RTA and started setting my system that way, and thought "this sounds terrible, " so I called a friend who writes for one fo the audio magazines.
He told me you really want a gentle slope of 1db per 3 octtaves or something liek that - i set my system and forgot about the specifics.
I check this out in more places and there is an art to the proper curve, and soem of it has to do with near feild and far feild listening, but generall everyone agrees you need the lows lowder than the highs in a gentle slope.

So, my system is louder at 10HZ than 100HZ, which is louder than 1,000, etc...

Wait. Aren't JBL and Infinity two brands from the same company? And isn't JL Audio from a different parent company? Or are all of those under the same corporate umbrella?

Just curious. (Because for the record, I'm using a $99 (sale price) 4 channel Clarion in my Mazda, and nothing but the built in Panasonic headunit amp in my Honda. (I just run the 6X9s for bass because it's almost good enough for me, it doesn't take up trunk space, and it's light'n'easy on the bank account.)

Even in a labratory, you can't creat conditions where humans can hear the difference between a no name brand 25 watt amp, and a uber brand 250 watt amp.

You can easily measure differnces, but no one has created scenario where level matched, any humna coudl hear the difference.

This means, that for your car, you want a cheap low powered amplifier.
I think I am using a cheap 6 channel alpine. 25 x 6.
