One of my pc's failed to power up a week ago. After testing out all the components, I came to the conclusion that the mainboard was defective; No power to ide deviced when IDE cable is plugged, no power to cpu. Cpu fan was running and mobo status light was on though.

got a new board 2 days ago, pop it in, boot up, install windoze and upon next bootup it hangs (no POST). Same story; no power to ide, no power to cpu.

Could the PS be burning out the boards?

I had a similar experience a year ago when I was building systems. I had a cheap 250W psu in a case that I was using to build an 800 MHz Slot A setup. The psu fried upon initial startup and took out damn near every piece of the system.

It fried the mobo (Asus K7M), the ram, the cd-rw drive, the hard drive and a floppy.

What brand/size psu is in it?

the ps is 'Power Man' brand - 235 Watt Originally it was powering some generic slotA board, the second board I installed was the epox/750 duron. I figured the 235watts should be enough since it's a lower clocked duron and one hdd/cd-rom.
