After uninstalling Opera7 trial, everytime I click on a link an error msg pops up saying:

(url of the link):; program not found

then the IE opens up. How do I get rid of this msg? It's strange because IE does follow up after I click OK. I've fooled with the folder options -> file assosiations but still can't get rid of the msg.

Not an opera user, but perhaps setting IE to be your "default" browser might remove that problem. Also, go into "add/remove programs" and see if Opera is still lurking

hey check that out, you're not being an ass for once. Opera is gone for good. After that pop up, it's followed by another box that reads:

Unable to find an application to handle the protocol "http" of the hyperlink you selected. Please type in the path of the application to handle this URL or click the Browse button.

then I would direct the field to Internet Explorer and "set it as default application" BUT IT STILL HAPPENS EVERYTIME WTF!?

Ok.

Make sure IE is set as default browser. This should eliminate 99.9999999999999% of the problems like this. After doing that, restart IE. Better yet, try a reboot after telling the browser you want it to be default. If you are absoluty sure Opera is gone, and you cannot get the message to go away. Reinstall Opera, the same version you had and see if that removes the problem. If it does, then remove the program formally using Add/Remove programs. Sometimes, especially trial software can be corrupted on install or uninstall and leave parts of it in your box.

Btw, I am still an asshole, you just got me on a good day ;)

Hahaha, let us know how the Opera goes.
Did you reboot after you chose those settings?
