Need your guy's input/help-Building first computer(gaming)

So far these are the pieces of hardware I have picked out for my computer-
1. Antec LifeStyle SONATA II Piano Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450Watt SmartPower 2.0 ATX 12V V2.0 for AMD & Intel systems Power Supply - Retail
2. NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3540A - OEM

Total: About 3 grand.

Basically I want a strong gaming computer that will last long. Also, If I understand correctly I will be able to upgrade this computer in the future? Since the socket of the mother board is 939. Most of the new processors will also be 939 too? Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, any parts I am missing or any criticism about this machine I am building will be greatly appreciated. I was going to buy a computer from Alienware, but this route saves me about 3 grand. Anyways, I am new to the computer technologies, so please bear with me.

I wouldn't get the FX57 go with a X2 4800+
Go with a eVga 7800GTX KO
Go with Asus A8N Premium
Go with Creative X-Fi Sound Card
Trash the Raptor get a Larger better drive

Then the case is up to you I personally don't like it though.

I wouldn't get a FX57, a dual core or a 3700+ San diego. Why do you need 3 raptors ? Get one for your OS if you want speed and a large 250 GB+ driver for storage. If you are not going to be overclocking, no need for PC4000 ram. He a 2Gb OCZ PC 3200 kit with low timings. Amd is comming out with a new socket next year so I don't know how much longer 939 will be around after that.

agree with all of this

also, the PCP&C 850 is way way way overkill, just get the PCP&C 510.......... its more then enough for that rig

its not going any where fast.

Theyll still make new chips, so there will be some upgrade room even after M2.

Dont wait for M2, 939 is still very very much alive

the FX57 is just clocked alot higher than any AMD CPU out today but the X2 has 2 cores which will overclock to FX57 speeds and blow the FX57 out of the water any day.

the case give me a minet and I will find the right one for you, 🙂 I like the questions and welcome to the forums 🙂

1. On your budget, you can afford a much better case. Look at the P180. Very nice case if you like the sleek look.
2. Fine
3. Way over kill. One Raptor would be fine, with a second bigger drive for storage.
4. RAM is fine, but I think there might be better options out there depending on your OC'ing ideas.
5. I agree that the X2 4800+ would be a better idea.
6. Tht is a sound card for playing music. Get an Audigy or X-Fi for gaming.
7. I like that card
8. A Seasonic 500W would be plenty, and save you plenty.
9. Good choice.

for the case, get an antec p180. for the psu, get a seasonic s12-500. for the ram, this not the stuff in the link above. for the hard drive, get a seagate 7200.9 drive. and if you want get a 74gb raptor for the OS.

No problem man, any time I'm very glad to help and I hope it pays off too.🙂

A bunch of good part and the cheap cChaintech? Get an audigy2zs or xfi instead.
And save $$ by going with an X2 cpu and other harddrives as mentioned.
