I am thinking of getting this card to hold me for the time being because i have to go on vacation soon. I don't want to spend a fortune on a card right now. Do you think its worth getting this card for now to hold me. Is it going to be a waste of money or should i wait until the 470 drop lower in price. I game at 1280*1024.

Should i go for the evga 470 or the msi twin froz 470.

buy a modern widescreen monitor. 1280x1024 is ridiculous for gaming on with a high end system like yours. whats the point in having all that nice hardware only to view your games at a low res? plus a 5:4 aspect ratio means you are missing out on 1/3 of game that widescreen users get. not to mention a gtx470 is stupid overkill for such a low res.

If you're in a bind for money just use what you have now. I have a high end desktop gaming (what I consider high end anyways) rig and it's great to turn the eye candy up but I mostly game on gaming laptops that wouldn't even hold a candle to a 8800 GT. I had fun playing super nintendo back in the day. It's great to have the graphics turned up but story and game play are the most important factors.

I Am going change the monitor. I jus tight right now on cash. I Just wanted a lil bit of help on getting a 470. By the way things look those 570 will not come cheap. I am thinking about getting a 470.
