The thread is neither official, nor its stickied. I believe he has enough information in the original post for people to comment about.

To the OP, you should just clarify what exactly you will be using the PC for. Based on that, people will comment on which parts you need to upgrade or which parts you can degrade to save money on.

From what I read, he is looking for the best bang for the buck. He has posted his budget clearly to the penny 😛

Im not an expert, but hopefully if OP just states his intent, others can comment.

I am getting a little sick of people siting that f'ing thread. The guy is a newb. He just wants advice.

These days, I think, 2 gigs of ram is better than one (does anyone disagree with me?) especially if you plan on installing Vista on it. My girlfriend has a laptop with one gig of ram and until I turned down ALL of the fancy stuff in Vista the thing was SO SLOW!

A 19" monitor for $250 sounds expensive, especially when 22" monitors are only a little bit more...

You haven't listed a video card... the nVidia 8600 is pretty cheap and will last you a while so long as you don't expect high end gaming performance from it.

If you are willing to look at an Intel Core 2 Duo, check out this thread it is pretty good, I think/hope...

vboyz you have to take my advice with a grain of salt since it is based on USA prices not on India/Kashmir prices.

For the price that you pay for the Mobo and CPU, as mentioned above by mike420, the Intel platform might provide better performance with future capacity to upgrade.

The level of graphic card depends on whether you game, or and do other video related applications, you have to choose the best card that you can afford for its purpose.

2GB RAM is definitely a good idea.

The rest is a matter of personal preference and local availability.

I am sorry....because i never read the posting rules before i post........because it was my 2 post.......

I am From INDID>>>>Kerala...I wish to buy parts from Cochin..The rates which i given approximate rate in the nearer shop(It is the maximum rate)

I am Vinod.N.A......19 year old....3 semester B.Tech Computer Science Student From CUSAT..

I am also interested in gaming and overclocking..

Now i determine to upgrade as 2 GB.....also i want to know which company is better for RAM,I need a single 2 GB Ram with high speed.........

Also i want to know about processor.....which is the best processor (Intel E6550 or AMD Athlon x2 5600+)........Also AMD is cheap comparing the price........Intel processor need the motherboards of high coast.....

Also i want to know that which motherboard can give the full performance of the processor.....

Some of the help that you are asking for is a matter of personal preference, so you have to make a decision on your own.

When you ask about a Cooler No specific answer can be made if you did not yet choose you Mobo/CPU combo and you know how much you CPU is going to be pushed to.

So you have to start to makle the basic final decision and than post a focused (rather than speculative) question.

This thread is an example of what is the type of hardware that appeals to members, http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=2090723&STARTPAGE=1
