hi, so my girlfriend and i picked up 2 I95cl nextel phones. basically her lcd screen area moves a lot. it has a lot of play. mine moves, but not as much as her's does. does this warrant a call in for the warranty or what?

shes really irritated by it, and so am i. i mean we paid $399.99 per phone for a phone that was not woobely (SP?). would you try to get it covered under the warranty?

Erm I assume you mean the physical LCD itself is moving around. It shouldn't move at ALL. If I recall correctly an LCD screen is connected by either a ribbon type cable or direct contact to the circuit board. Either way the LCD should be secured to the circuit board. If it's flopping around inside there it's probably going to fail soon.

why would you spend 400 on a phone?? my bro bought one for 250 and i thought he was nuts, i even thought his previous one (which got run over by a car) which cost him 150 was overpriced.

there are good phones for 100 or so.

and you can buy a dependable camry for 20K, so why buy a mercedes for 60K? Its all preference man. :) I like my phones small and belt-clippable.

no, because the Camry is a death trap and the Mercades isn't. the Camry is front wheel drive which makes it skip on the road if you try to accelerate hard but the Mercades will stick to the ground.
my bro's $150 phone was about half the size of my hand (long fingers but narrow hand) and it had a both a head phones slot and a belt clip. his new phone doesn't have a belt clip and the rings are just stupid sounding :(

There are good phones for 20 bucks. :)

I don't see the point of spending so much on a phone either. Is this a cell phone, btw?

uh, camry is a death trap because its FWD? LOL, you dont have a clue what you are talking about. NSF4, where are you? ;)

Some of the more expensive phones have color screens, built in mp3 players, etc. I personally wouldnt spend that much because I move to much to commit to a $400 with a single carrier.

Getting back to the orginal question, it'd be nice to see some pictures but yea, that sounds like it should ber under warranty. how old are they?

Shakes head in shame that someone could be so misinformed. Death traps eh... Its RWD cars that skip in the rain, not FWD.

For that price, I'd rather get a regular cell phone and a PocketPC, which is the combination I already have. :D

get in a front wheel drive and punch it, it skips off the ground. even if you don't punch it and you are simply making a left turn at an intersection it skips off the ground. it is all physics.
when the car accelerates, the weight is shifted to the back of the car, the front wheels don't have enough traction so they skip and make the car bounce. i know this because i actually DRIVE a FWD car and because i've read a lot of physics. they are death traps because they don't have enough room to crumple on them, Carmrys have small front ends which makes it more likely to have the front seat compartment completely collapse. to see a demonstration of how crumple space works, get 2 foam matressed, 1 thick and 1 thin. jump on the thick matress, notice how your feet do not hit the ground or if they do the pressure of your feet on the ground is minimal. now jump on the thin matress, notice how your feet do hit the ground and quite a bit harder than with the thick matress.

don't try to baffle me with BS, i do my homework.

No it doesn't, I have a FWD, and I've always had FWD (4 cars) and none of them "skipped off the ground" when "punched"....

dude i drive a 4 cylinder, under 3L Ford Tempo. i can't joy ride because it has no power, i literaly have to pin it just to get started off the line practically unless i wanna accelerate slower than a 90 y/o in a lead sled. when i'm turning it skips off the road like that, once it nearly lost all control on me. to get a feeling of what it's like trying to turn while accelerating in a FWD just try a go cart on a gravel road (going slowly) then slam the stearing wheel to the left or right.......the way it sort of pushes the front wheel likes they have absolutely no traction is how my car drives. my friend's Firefly is the same.

Man, I think we should all just laugh at this guy. How old are you anyway? Read a lot of physics? Most of us on here DO a lot of physics and I'd like to say that you sir, are an idiot. How the hell do you get the car to skip off the ground? So you drive a FWD car, have you driven a RWD car in the rain? OMG, your post is so stupid, I think you're pulling our chain and just trying to get us frustrated.

<== eye begins to twitch...

You're just an idiot who doesn't know how to drive his car. You drive a 4 cylinder under 3L Ford Tempo and you wanna accelerate quickly? Of course you got no power! Go karts are completely different things then cars. Yea, your high school basic physics logic might be convincing you you aren't an idiot, but I guess its not that hard to convince an idiot. You probably have worn tires that have no traction. You guys are probably the crappy drivers the rest of us complain about.

i think your car is just a POS, my FWD civic drives perfectly fine when I "punch it". Damm, you are clueless.

i just said i've driven other FWD cars, every one is like that which i have tried. my parents' boat cars RWD are not like that, my uncle's Lexus is not like that, my other uncle's truck is not like that, my cousin's Civic is like that but to far lesser extent than my Tempo or my friend's Firefly.

1.) Your car sucks
2.) Your car is American
3.) If the front end of the Camry COLLAPSED, then how come it gets this rating?
4.) You sir, are WRONG.

Edit: And what the flying fvck is a firefly?

ironic how american cars are mostly foreign parts though.

let's just stop now before this flame war gets bigger.

Is your FWD car a 5 speed? If you are the reason you are getting "skipping" is because you don't know how to drive it. IF you rev the RPM's to a point where you know the tires won't be able to catch, then drop the clutch, the car starts "skipping off the ground". The car doesn't literally "jump off the ground" but your whole car starts vibrating back and forth violently (if you keep the gas down) and it feels like you're bouncing up and down. An Automatic car doesn't do this obviously. You might try putting an automatic in neutral and reving the engine to 4000 and dropping it into drive (i wouldn't suggest this though..hehe). But you might get the same effect.

This is just so people know you CAN make a FWD car "skip" off the ground and theres no reason to call this guy an idiot for saying that. You'd have to be a seriously shitty drive to keep doing it though.

FYI I've driven several cars like this that were FWD.

PsychoAndy. Maybehe's refering to this?

http://www.auto.com/industry/iwirf26_20020626.htm

Where the
"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in its latest round of tests gave the four-door 2002 Camry a two-star rating for its ability to protect front-seat occupants in a side-impact crash. "

Yeah, but Toyota is puzzled by it. Considering that the IIHS and in house tests were good, it might be an anomaly. But whatever it is, i'm pretty sure it doesn't involve the whole front end collapsing on itself.

his car "skipping" sounds like bad front suspension? When was the last time you changed your shocks?
