need wireless to laptop for cable

but I want to keep my desktop on the hardwired cable modem ( modem is a 3com cmx ) is thete any way to have the wireless router and keep hardwired if so what do I need get thanks Chas

Yeah there is a way and it is called the ?Quirky way?.

Install a Wireless card on the Desktop, and a Wireless card on the Laptop.

Configure them in Ad-Hoc Mode and invoke ICS.

If it does not work you can always pray and hope for divine intervention.

A very reasonable solution would be to add a Wireless Access Point and a router in you do not have one. An integrated Router with wireless is the least expensinve solution.

Just to clarify, you don't need to setup ICS. You can just bridge the wireless NIC to the wired NIC and make sure the wireless clients know their gateway :)
