Looking to go to a wireless home network - two PC's and a laptop (Win2k pro).

Any comments or directions to in-depth articles would be appreciated.

Thanks

practicallynetworked.com has some good info on wireless stuff and lots of reviews

i picked up an SMC barricade wireless router about a month ago...works FANTASTIC

802.11b i believe.

SMC router + orinoco gold pcmcia adapter for laptops is a sweet consumer level setup.

for your two PC's, look into USB wireless adapters, since you have more flexibility in antenna positioning

i personally don't see the need to wait for new stuff right now...it can be had relatively inexpensively as is

Whether you need Wireless, it up to you.

However, you should know the way things going it probably will not be out before 2003.

Not only will g not be out anytime soon but it will also suffer from the same interference and carrier band overcrowding that 802.11b does. If you want a wireless LAN today, or within the next 6 months or so you have two choices, a or b. At least as the local PC shop. There are some variables you need to consider between the two but bottom line on these two is, do you need the added bandwidth of a? If you do, buy an 802.11a AP. If not buy a b. As far as websites. For all things Wi-Fi try 802.11 Planet
