NEED USB STORAGE (98) DRIVER, please help...

howdy,

i'm under the assumption that win98 external usb storage drivers are generic in nature (if i'm wrong let me know). With that in mind, does anyone have an archive of a driver set they could email me for use with one of those external usb1.1/2 laptop HD drives? I need to go to an employees house to backup some data before i wipe their system (they're running WinME and I'll be putting 98SE back on). WinME should see the drive, but the 98se won't.

I left the drivers at home (its a personal drive, not the agency's)

anyway, i have 2 hours, otherwise i'll probably have to drive home 🙂

thanks, i couldn't find the .sys file mentioned in the article (the link's dead) but found a slightly cleaner solution (duse4.4) while googling the .sys. hopefully it works 🙂

I have the same problem with a Maxtor external HD.

I want to access if from DOS.

the duse 4.4 didn't work for me. have to come back tomorrow, have the original driver so giving up on the 3rd party drivers. good luck.

I do have drivers for my Sandisk CompactFlash reader in win98.... will they help?

I usually just slave their hd to mine and drag over to a folder their stuffz(or burn it onto CDs) then once after rework of their system..slave again and drag/drop back in.
