Edit: It's a PCI Voodoo3, if that wont work with any motherboards then i'll just forget the whole thing.

The problem is that any 5-year old CPU/mobo you're going to get is a) used, b) non-upgradeable, and c) probably really, really bad compared to what $100-200 will buy you in newer technology.

You can get a Shuttle AN-35N Ultra and a cheap Duron CPU for not much more than $100 (and Fry's has some killer MB/CPU deals if you don't mind getting ECS boards), plus another $50 or so for some DDR333 RAM for it. You can throw your PCI V3 in there, and it'll blow away any outdated system you might put together by saving a few bucks -- but you can take this one and actually upgrade it to a reasonably modern system with a faster AXP/Sempron CPU and more/faster RAM.

MB (Shuttle AN35N-Ultra) -- $51 + $2 shipping
CPU (SocketA Sempron 2200+) -- $46 + free shipping
RAM (256MB Mushkin PC2700 DDRRAM) -- $42 + free shipping

$141 for a system that'll kick any outdated P3's butt, and can actually be upgraded someday if you want to make it a higher-end system.

The AN35N is an excellent budget board, but the ECS K7VTA3 that you get with the Fry's/Outpost Sempron combos isn't all that bad for the $20 that you pay for it when you buy the combo. I'm using one to upgrade a family member's computer and it has been running with a Sempron 2500+ now for almost a week straight of constant SETI workunit crunching without a hiccup. Paid $60 for both (in store at Fry's, outpost has been running the combo for around $70). Again, not as good as the Shuttle board, but it does the job pretty well considering the cost.
