Need upgrade help!

My current pc is
P4 2.4ghz northwood
1 gig pc3200 samsung
80 gig
Evga 6800GS

my pc was oced to 3.0ghz but my psu died on my , so i had to revert it back to 2.4ghz with my old psu.

I try playing games like BF2 and i get alot of stuttering in the game and i run it on 1024 with medium settings , video card is on quality with no aa/af.
aswell as Age of empires or guildwars i cant even run those that well .


What can i do to improve performance with my pc?

low budget if possible

Another gig of ram would help BF2

I would say switch out that RAM for something a little more robust, like some G.Skill or Mushkin. It would also help if you could OC your CPU a bit, just to about 2.8GHz... and that upgrade is FREE!

well my cpu was oced before to 3.0ghz
but my psu died now its back to 2.4ghz
and it stutters like a mother

would a cpu upgrade to like a amd 3500/and a ASROCK dual pcix/agp mobo with 2 gigs of ram help?

well cheap like 400 canadian
the cpu/mobo is like 230 canadian

go for it then. if you can hold it out another 3 weeks though, the 3500 should get a little cheaper
