how about the banning of pro-hormone supplements even though they should fall under the guidance of the Dietary Supplement Act. The cause of the ban is only related to the baseball and pro-sports banning. Politicians jumping the gun, again, on a product they know little about.
Or you could write about Ephedra. How it was legal, then illegal, then legal again when the FDA realized that many of the anecdotal evidence could not pinpoint ephedra as a problem. But even after that, they end up banning again, because people don't know how to follow directions.
Or You could write about something more local - like Virginia's governor strong-arming some of the ACC teams to accept Virginia Tech into the ACC, instead of Syracuse.
