Need tool for CPU temp monitoring

Morning all,

Please dont berate me for it, but for whatever reason I find myself with a shiny new G0 Q6600 + Ultra 120 combo ready to overclock.... with Vista 64 as my O/S.

I am keen to o/c, but has not realised the unsigned drivers issue in Vista 64 would stop me from using CoreTemp on my PC. Clearly I am in trouble getting a safe o/c if I cannot monitor the temp.

Can anybody who has either been in the same boat or has a big brain suggest an alternative tool for monitoring temps, which works in Vista 64?

If all else fails the only option I can think of is to set my max temp Bios alarms at as close to 70 degrees as I can and then see when it throttles. That's my last resort though as its hardly precise.

Any help appreciated.

I have both Speedfan and Notebook Hardware Control functioning. Be sure to deactivate User Account Control or whatever it's called. I like Notebook Hardware Control better than any of them. Very versatile.

Thanks for the replies guys

What's the deal with Speedfan? I had heard it reported wrong temps. Is the solution to just take when it says and add 15 degrees or so?

you can use coretemp in vista 64, but you have to download a special version with a batch file that fakes signing the drivers or something....search for vista 64 coretemp fix. i cant remember what website i got it from :(

If you have an Asus or Gigabyte motherboard, both of their motherboard monitoring apps work fine.

Edit: and dont have speedfan 20 degrees off bug.
