Look at the nForce2 boards. They have GREAT sound and a lot of other features and should support the future Barton Athlons.

I think most Like the Epox and Asus nForce2 boards rigth now.

Best thing to do RIGHT NOW is get a nForce2 board and go to Newegg.com and search for "1700+ retail" this will show a .13 micron chip for $65 shipped. With a nForce2 board it will be unlocked and you should be able to run it at 166FSB or bump it up to Athlon XP 2000+ level or higher easy. And you will NOT be overclocking the PCI/AGP speeds so your system should be 100% stable.
Then by the time this feels slow the Bartons should be out and the price should have dropped by then.

I am still running a 760MPX system, so maybe someone that has a nFprce2 board and a .13 micron Athlon can fill you in better.

THE AMD Motherboard these days is the nForce 2. Definately go with one of those. Also, I second the 1700+ even not over-clocked. You do not seem to be someone who's going to need the "juice" that the higher MHz AMD CPUs provide.

everyone here suggests the nforce 2. SO what do you say? I agree with them. Get that and a cheap chip like the 1700. Also get 2 sticks of 256mb DDR333. Samsung brand if you can find it.
