i have a 8600gts right now with a 80mm case fan glued onto it because the HSF blew out a long time. That being said i need something new. i play COD4 and will be using 3D Max for school as well as the adobe design suite (flash, illustrator, photoshop, etc.). Need something can handle that. not really looking to get some BADASS PWNzOr card.....Just need something that will be efficient..

You should probably give a few more details if you want any advice.
What else is in your rig?
What is your budget?
What resolution do you run?

Don't get hung up on this - it rarely makes sense as an upgrade path unless you do it within a very short time period. That said, the 4850 is a good choice - plenty of power for your gaming, and up-tp-date features.

I would say hands down in your situtation, the 4850. The OPTION of crossfire in the future, and it just being bale to beat the holy hell out the 1440 x 900. The good new is you'll be bale to use lots of AA & AF in your games. Yeah for the cost of the card in your situtation the 4850 would be really hard to beat.
