Need to test the market for a new bracelet

Hey guys... I recently saw someone with a rubber band that was colored to say "I have a girlfriend". It was an instant hit at the party and everyone wanted one. Now I don't think this is exactly an original idea, but I certainly can't find a real place that sells them online so I'm assuming I'm the only one to try and directly sell this type of band.

If I decided to purchase them I would have to buy at least 500 at a time to make any real sort of profit. I'd like to get "I have a girlfriend" and "I have a boyfriend" bracelets avaliable but until there is a definite market for this type of thing I think the "IHAG" would be a better start.

Obviously the point is for you or your partner to wear them to partys or just in general to let members of the opposite sex to know you are taken. Plus, it seemed to be an instant conversation piece.

The question is, would you guys be willing to possibly buy one of these for $2? Anyone seen these before? Any suggestions?

um, sounds like a pet rock kind of idea to me. I wouldn't buy one in any event.
but the net is a big place.

Personally, I think putting them into a 99c store would work out better.

Guys tend to get a little frisky when they are drunk and this would be a way to let other girls know to stay off.

The market for this would obviously be for girls or guys with girlfriend so this may be the wrong place to ask. But I figured I would try for any creative criticism anyways.

Wearing a Halo 2 T-Shirt would be probably be a much more effective technique.
 
make any flesh colored? my g/f would be happy because i'm wearing it and i'd be happy because i could still pick up chicks.
 
What most of you don't understand is that I don't need a majority vote for this to be a good idea. I expect more than a 90% declined offer rate, especially in a place mostly visted by single males who aren't the most sociable of types. A 5% sale rate would be more then enough to justify profit.
 
My personal opinion - you're in on the tail end of a fad. Lance armstrong started this with his cancer bracelets and now there are TONS of these things.. for everything from Pets agencies to Tsunami relief. My point - I think that these are marketable now but dont think they will be for long.. and as with any fad.. those that join at the tail end are left with a huge inventory that no one wants to buy. My opinion.
