Need to setup a small network

I need to get a rough idea of what I will need to network approximately 15 PC's and a server. So far I think I should use a 24 port unmanaged switch from dell or blackbox. I want to be able to bask up the PC's drives on the server as well as install programs onto the PC's from the server.

Is there anything I would need other than a switch and some cat5e cable?

a DCHP server to assign ip addresses to the clients. alternatively, you can go to each pc and assign static addresses...just ensure they are all configured for the same logical subnet.

also, if you require access to the internet or a seperate network, youll need a router.

A switch, some CAT5e, and a router (which includes a DHCP server) will do the trick like jlazzaro said. Get yourself a nice Gigabit router and be sure to use CAT5e minimum if you want high-speed backups on your network.
