need to settle on laptop

here is what im looking for.

core duo
1gb ram (i have a 1gb ddr stick somewhere in my room)
will swap out HD
graphics strong enough to run autocad, mathlab, etc (eng shizza)
screen cannot be xga or xga+ (way too big for me...this is a big point...widescreen does not matter, 15.4 and under)

warranty is important, as is the reliability and build of the lappie. i want to get an IBM, but the T series is way too much, and i havent heard much about the N100's, which would be what id get. dell is pretty much the cheapest, as i can get all that and some more with those deals. however, the stories of dell kinda set me off a bit. asus and acer are also 2 brands im considering, so any info on those id appreciate.

budget: 1200 dollars

thanks.

Nope. I just don't appreciate your pointless posts. The message wasn't for anyone-- it was completely redundant.

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 and the build quality is very good... although it is entirely plastic. Definitely not a thinkpad though.
