all of my music is currently in the following format:

\Artist - Album\Track # - Album - Track Name

and I want to change the file names to match the following structure:

\Artist\Album\Track # Track Name

itunes will take care of the folder scheme but the file name gets screwed up by the title. Please tell me there is a simple way to rename all these files (remove the album name from the file name)

EDIT:

to clarify

currently:

\music\50 Cent - Get Rich Or Die Tryin'\01 - Get Rich Or Die Tryin' - Intro.mp3

needs to be:

\music\50 Cent\Get Rich Or Die Tryin'\01 Intro.mp3

when imported to itunes with auto-organize on becomes:

music\50 Cent\Get Rich Or Die Tryin'\01 01 - Get Rich Or Die Tryin' - Intro

musicmatch jukebox does mass renaming of files, over nested directories.
you can set the filename structure to anything you want

sadly that doesn't change the file name, only the folder structure...unless there's more advanced options then on/off.

answered at least 42 times in the Software forum, assuming Advanced Search "tag mp3" still works.

What miracle allows it to work?
I guess PEBKAC can make it fail for almost anyone.

The problem I have is that I need to change the original file name. All of the programs suggested in those threads can generate a tag based on a file name and vise versa, but none can handle my problem.

It should be working dude, this is what it reads:
Places song files into album and artist folders, and names the files based on the disc number, track number, and the song title.

I think the problem is that the file name is what I listed:

Track # - Album - Track Name

and the title field in the tag is the same.

got it using Godfather mp3

have to open the folder, determine how many characters to delete (the worst part)

this will create the proper file name and rename all of the files.

then the tag editor can do all of the correct files at the same time.

still have to go album by album but it shouldn't take more then a day or two.
