need to recover lost data

got a 160gb HD that was... accidently... quick formatted by a full windows xp sp2 install. i've tried a couple freeware programs and it was basically a crapshoot. anyone know any good programs that can recover from this?

I got EVERYTHING back from a 250GB drive that mysteriously losts its partition and hence everything on it. This was using GetDataBack for NTFS. There was even records of things I had deleted long before, but most of that stuff was unrecoverable.

Tell us how it goes...

I hope this isn't one of those suspense threads...only to find out that there's no ending 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

argh, absolutely nothing. getdataback only found files that windows deleted after being installed, not a single file from 130 gigs previously used... looks like i'm screwed.

is there any other program?

useful functions for data recovery: "DeleteRecovery", "FormatRecovery",
