Need to put 45 mins home video online

You can try Vimeo:

http://www.vimeo.com/

It says you can do 500mb per week, but you can get a paid account ($60/year) and do files up to 1GB. If you can encode that 45 minute video down to 1GB, you'd be all set!

that's probably the only way you're going to get it. i don't think there's a good free way... unless you want to just split up the file into 10 minute chunks

He could use RapidShare or something...it wouldn't be available for viewing, only downloading, but some of those services let you upload up to 500-1000mb files.

hey, slightly off topic, but is there a software to compress video? currently I only know how to use Window Movie Maker that (i believe) can only read and compress the most basic movie file format that came straight from your digit camera.

This is good and free if you're on Windows:

THANKS MAN! a long time ago I was using a DVD ripper called mpeg-to-avi (something like that), and it only rip/compress video and not the audio. Have to use a seperate software to rip the sound, and then combined it again.
