Shave your fingers yo yo 😛

As to the ICE ring, I must admit i really do like! though the clarity is low i certainly cant expect miracles at my budget. Great find!

The hairy ones are hers.

So which is worse... her having hairy fingers or you not even being half the man she is? 😉 haha

I was under the impression that it was to signify the intention to become engaged at some point.

Here's an expensive ring to tide you over until I get around to buying an even more expensive ring.

Check out the stores in the mall. That's where my ex got mine.

Sounds like promise rings are not a good idea.

Yeah, I like the idea that some other posters, including you, gave to other types of jewelry to get for her instead.

If I were you, I would start from nearest mall and start asking the clerk at jewelry shop about your preference and come up to a deal without telling them you are shopping around. Try many stores as possible then ask people around you for an advice. (as many women as possible..recommended!) Then start surfing the web for more information to obtain a better knowledge. Do not think that you are wasting your time, since it is a promise ring and woman really do care about this!

"oh, I can't go out with you...see, I've got a promise ring!"

my response?

"so he doesn't want to marry you? Hmm, want to go out and tell me about how disappointed you are with that and his inability to truely commit?"

works like a champ!

How about one of those two halves of a heart necklaces. Girls love those. Put a sapphire chip on hers.

He never bought me one....😕

I actually got a promise ring as a gift when I graduated high school b/c I loved sapphires and it was a cheapie. *L* Thin silver band, sapphire chip. So they existed at one time....was a local jeweler though, so I couldn't tell you the name of a chain to try. Have you looked at purity rings? There may be something that would fit the bill in that style.
