So my parents have a car that sits unused several months of the year. I need to get a battery tender so it's not dead every time they come back.
My dad wants the kind that remains in the car, and you simply plug into the wall when you're leaving for a long time. does such a thing exist?

any recommendations that can be purchased on amazon prime? I gotta order it today so I can have it tomorrow to install it.

Thanks!

I have two that I bought from Wal-Mart for just under $20. They work great. If it's not this guy, it's something quite similar. It doesn't permanently mount inside the car, though.

I actually found it cheaper ($22 bucks picked up) at an advance auto parts with the $10 off $30 coupon "VISA"

Yea I came in to say check advance and their coupons or a walmart/kmart as backup. Heck even harborfreight stores have some decent ones.

I've had great luck with a Schumacher Battery Companion I purchased several years ago from Advance Auto Parts. It's kept the original battery in my '05 Mustang fully charged. I usually hook it up to a timer so it doesn't need to be on all day.

Do they stabilize their gas?

No. I go down to DC every couple months, drive the car for a day or two, and top up the gas (couple gallons in a 19 gallon tank) when I'm done. Should we still be using stabilizer?

Good idea on the timer, I may do that!

Most major brands only suggest stabilizer if you're going to store the car for more than 1 year. So if you go through a tank in a year, you're probably fine.

Yeah, my parents are in town for 1-2 months a year, and in that time they usually make a few long distance trips to NYC etc. Sounds like we should be fine.
