Need to make payment for a FS/FT forum, seller doesn't use paypal

How can we make payments?

I guess COD works for me, but how does it work? Do I pay the UPS man? What is the surcharge like???

I don't really know the guy, so I wouldn't like to do a money order, but the payment is only $30.

Wouldn't I be sending the money first in a money order? He has no references.

Are you cross-shipping or worried about the potential transaction in some way?

Money-order works well.

If you really want to be anal, you could use one of the more established traders as a sort of improvised escrow service. Each of you ship to that person and they ship it the rest of the way. The extra cost wouldn't make it cost-effective at all, but if you're worried....

How is that any different than paying with paypal? If you have decent references, have him ship first. Otherwise, do as Hossenfeffer suggested.

A COD is not necessarily safe because you can't open the box until you "accept" it an pay the COD. So one could still send you an empty box and rip you off. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If he has no references, and you have references, he ships first... you pay after you receive... thats how it works.


COD = bad idea, you could be buying a box of rocks if you are worried.
paypal= bad idea, you pay first ? same issue as with money order.
