If you want to stay with current trends, go with a 64 bit operating system. Unless your running some kind of legacy software, is there a reason why you want to run a 32 bit os?

when I am look at at hardware, I usually go the steam stats page and look at the trends - http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

64 bit operating systems are on the rise, and systems with 5 gigs of memory or more is outpacing everything else. Windows 7 32-bit accounts for only 9.87% of the systems in the steam survey. While Windows 7 64-bit accounts for 40.60%.

You'd be better served bumping the CPU up to a quadcore. An i5-2500k or even an i5-750/760 from last gen will get you substantial performance gains in more and more games as time goes on.

Mobo and memory aren't anything to splurge on for your budget, I'd split the bundle up, stop paying for an Overclock that you'll be able to do with a little research, and get some better value parts.

Case seems fine but it also little on the expensive side for no real reason. Bundled PSUs are usually just middle of the pack performers.

The GPU is overpriced, don't fall for those premiums for what amount to fairly minor overclocks. The 460 is probably a good choice for you, however.

Most importantly what resolution are you playing at? That's what really determines how much graphics card you actually need.

no its meant to be a 64 bit ... i must have linked the 32 bit by accident thanks for the headsup . do you u think its a good system other than that?

im not too sure but i think its 1440x900... gpu i have now sucks biscuits so ive had to lower it but the max resolution on my monitor is 1440x900.

Yup good system, i would get an i5 2500 or 2500k but the i3 is also good for gaming. If you have been on their forums for 9 months i think they give you free delivery FYI.

I wouldn't trust a power supply bundled with a case to power a gaming GPU.

how did you get that image onto thread?

I'm a noob at this shit 😛

Hit your "print screen" (prt scr) key on the keyboard, open microsoft paint, paste the image into paint (ctrl + v keys to paste), save as file.

There are also a lot of screen capture programs out on the internet.

I use photoscape to crop and label my images.

thanks

the image wont show so i jus post the link instead P.S this is from scan.co.uk

the previous combo from dominion was a bit over my budget plus i couldn decide on whether to choose amd or intel. so i was jus searching around and i just came up with this. its fits almost perfectly into my budget but im not the man to ask when it comes to knowing about performance :awe: so if this is bad (which it prob is ) or their ar compat issues please help 😛 thanks

To me, a 500 watt is a little low.

The majority of power supplies are most efficient at anywhere from 50% - 75%, depending on who your talking to. Some people say 50%, some people say more like 70% or 75%. So if your system draws 400 watts, your going to be most efficient with something like a 600 watt. But there are going to be people that argue that point.

If that was my machine, I would go with something like an antec truepower 650 or 750 watt.

thanks for quick reply

yea i was trying to find a cheap branded, 600w or even 550w but they wer mostly scan products i think but il check again, i think i have some leftover cash....otherwise is this a good setup for future rts and the odd rpg? or is there anything you would upgrade other than the psu?

Before you buy a power supply, read through the reviews at

JohnnyGURU.com - http://www.jonnyguru.com/

A power supply will either make or break the system. Regardless of the CPU, memory, hardrives, video card,,,,, its all dependent on the power supply.

The one part you do not want to go cheap quality on is the power supply. There are some good power supplies out there that do not cost a fortune, you just have to do your research. Take the power supply you picked out, and see if johnnyguru did a review on it.

A 500W is about twice as much as the OP needs for that rig, even maxed out.

Not to mention the fact that a system draws less power at idle. So if the OP were to use a 750W PSU, he's be loading it at something like 33% at max (which would only happen rarely). Idle is going to be in the teens easily. Needless to say, his efficiency would be pretty terrible at that point.

The 500W is fine, and Silverstone is a good albeit lesser-known brand. The OP could easily go with the 430CX.

this is now what im siting on having had to bump budget to 580£ (650€)

would you think i need a cpu cooler or would one supplied with cpu be sufficient?

BTW SherSher - you can edit your posts. So no need for three-in-a-row just to correct an image link.

Edit button FTW.
