get a thermalright XP-90C. i would just spend your $400 on a better video card, there is no garauntee that your video card will be able to do more with better cooling.

Upgrading from a Pro to XT would be foolish.

I'd be happy with what you have.

If anything, get 1 GB of PC3200.

If you want a real upgrade, dont waste your money on the current gen since your card is already good.

Instead wait for next gen cards.

EDIT: Your "generic" psu is probably crap.

The newer cards suck up a lot of power.

I'd upgrade that too.

Send me those 500USD, and I will edit you an image for all your buddies that says you got more than 13k pts.

Same deal here.

OP- But seriously, Its only a benchmark. You would probably get more useful help by just asking for any ways to upgrade your system for higher performance, without talking about 3Dmark scores.

But what you have said is probably the best way to improve your performance, without doing anything too major.

i love how so many people here tell you to stop wasting your time when you're asking for suggestions on how to make your pc faster. xtreme members they are.

anyways, back to the point...you need to sell your pro or unlock it if its a vivo. either that or send it to viperjohn and he'll mod it for you and get the max possible.

as for your cooling for your cpu, either get a watercooling kit that'll cool both ur cpu and vid card better (then no need for viperjohn) and overclock it some more, or just better air cooling

as for ram, get some vx (a gig), its cheaper and u have to run very high tccd speeds to beat it

the easiest way out is to just sell your pro and buy a used xt and overclock it to pe with better cooling and get a gig of ram instead of ur current 512, and finally to get a better air cooler for ur cpu

a side note is that the 6800 series gives better 3dmark03 scores while a comparable x800 series card will give a better 3dmark05 score

3dmark doen'st matter unless u only want to brag about your system. i have an oem hp, only added a 430 watt truepower to power my 6800gt. no oc'ing, modding, whatever, and 11444 is my highest score. but still, what matters is the games. you want to try to get games to stay above 60fps so they run as smooth as possible.

An x850xt would probably hit it, and definitely hit it if you oc it. Bestbuy.com has a deal on them right now.

Yep, go that route ^^^^, while you are at it, get a nice Power Supply and Case (Thermaltake Tsunami Dream w/window for the extra 92mm fan, mine is awesome, you'll love the cooling) and a decent Powersupply, I like my powerstream 520. Add all that together with the X850XT and you will have a happy, stable computer that should run for a long time :)

Good luck!
Nat

P.S. I like running 3dMarks, for the record, and a difference between a comp that gets 11,000 and 13,000 is the difference between high quality gaming (16*12 w/the goodies on) right now, as far as I can correlate it with my results across multiple different platforms.

Oh, and get a gig of generic DDR400 ram, too, Corsair Value Select seems to be a good choice right now. After you sell the Pro, you should have hit your mark right on the nose. I might be interested in your pro if the price is right :)

Christ, the guy asked for help getting to 13k, not for advice on whether or not it was a good way to spend his money or whether or not 3d mark was an artificial benchmark or not. How come I can't read a threat without having to read a buncha people making smartass, holier than thou remarks? No one gives two shits if you don't like benchmarking (I don't care about them), if you don't then just go read something useful instead of posting here, acting like a pooper, and bumping the thread about something you don't even like? Why? Why I ask???? You can say whatever you want in response because I don't care about what nerdy internet people (by nerdy I don't mean people who like computers and tech, I mean people who comb the boards looking for someone to correct so they can show how superior they are) think about me and I'm not gonna read it anyway. You could have done the same thing with this thread but nooo!!!! Unfortunately, I do care about having to be irritated by snobbery every time I try to read a goddamn post, and I can't ignore it because it's everywhere, and I scroll down to read and blam it just hits me, no way to get around it. Just stop it, seriously.

i agree... so irritating....

those baka should really understand how to live a life.... do they even notice the tons of threads in every single computer forums that reads 'post your 3dmark score' or 'wow.. what 3dmark score do you get for that OC ?? ' ..... bla bla bla...

EVERYONE knows the score doesn't reflect a human life...... but there shouldn't be anyone comment about other people's way of life either....

sighhh.....

back to spot....
to get an increase of 2k in 3dmark score... u need DDR400... plus a CPU running at 2.7Mhz... and the best scoring driver for tat ATI card..... if u r tat keen onli on the score... PSU won't help u increase that a bit... neither will the case....(but i tell u.. i really love my tsunami dream)... LOL..... good luckk

To add to my post up there, you should definitely go for the best OCing ram that you can get. It will be a good improvment over the old PC2700.

I get about 13800 with a P4 4GHz and a X850XTPE @ 550/600. It would probably be over 14,500 with a A64.

I've currently got 12600 on 3dmark05 and I could possibly get around 13000 if I get everything up and working correctly.
