Need to get medical insurance for 3 months....

I need to get medical insurance for 3 months until my new policy kicks in. Where should I go for this? Any companies better than others to go with for 3 months without getting taken to the cleaners?

Depends on where you live, but just try one of those online quote things so all the companies can call you for quotes. I had Fortis for temporary insurance at one point....they were decent.

My wife did this when she changed jobs, although I don't remember who we got it from.

It's called temporary or short-term insurance and you can get it pretty cheap for basic (hospital) coverage with a high deductible. Her's came out to about $80/month ($240 total) with like a $1000 deductible. That was fine for us as we only needed it for emergencies.

Are you eligible for COBRA?

Yea if you are leaving a job with medical insurance, they are by law supposed to provide you with a COBRA option for up to 6 months after you leave the company. Of course at your expense.

Don't forget you're also responsible for the full premium amount...which is usually much much higher than what you paid when you were employed.

Yes I am, so I can continue on my current insurance even if I am not there anymore?

Yes - Figure that the cost should be about 3-4 times more than what you are used to paying.

I don't pay anything right now, its all covered.

I used this after I got my BS degree (no longer eligible under parent's plan) and before I was covered in graduate school. For that 3 month summer break, I think it cost me under $200. I never needed a claim, so I can't say if they are easy to deal with or not.
