Now, besides a case, what do i need to make this thing run?

I don't know anything about hard drives. That's the only thing i diddnt research.

Which types do i need? Which types can I run?

Do I need more parts? NIC cards? Etc?

This will be my first build, thanks in advance.

For that nice of a build, you'll probably want a SATA drive. Look for deals on SATA from B&M stores, as they're usually pretty darn cheap after rebates.

The mobo has onboard LAN, so you won't need a NIC. Everything else looks pretty good.

meaning the 3.0Gb/s?

I don't need a "controller card" or anything it will just plug right in?

Yup, your mobo supports SATA II, so 3.0Gb/s will work just fine.

NOT the IDE ULTRA ATA 100/133
or
Serial ATA 150?

real world speed-wise they are all basically the same, but i suggest you get the newest thing out there which is SATA II, and youre correct about your first statement.

Also i believe monarch has the DFI board for about $10 cheaper.

EDIT: $120.50 shipped
