Need to file a complaint against a credit card company

I've finally had it a credit card co that refuses to refund my money for unauthorized charges. I caught them charging unauthorized hidden fees and they refuse to refund the money or close the account. What are some other ways to get these assholes?

The FTC.

Your state's Attorney General's office.

The Attorney General's office in the state where the bank is incorporated.

Small claims court.

"account protection" fee. this fee was charged in case you lose your job or something to the sort. the fee was for some outside insurance ageny to cover your bill in case of emergency. Contact the company these fees were going to and was told they had nothing to do with it. A CSR from CCC had signed up these fees to account.

Thank you for responding. That is the #1 way CC companies try to scam their customers. I've gotten many telemarketer calls (often as early as 6 am) for that service and the telemarketer calls are set up in a way that if you answer yes or no to any of their questions then legally you just agreed to this service. They have "free" promotions all the time with fine print stating that you are signing up for this service. And they have all these forms that look official but they really are just forms to sign up for this service.

So most likely you fell for one of their scams and you probably did authorize it unknowingly. I don't think you can really win. But good luck trying.

I told them to show me proof of a checkmark, yes, no, phone recording or ANYTHING that has me approving this fee and I would pay it off. my call got mysteriously disconnected....again.

:thumbsup: That's exactly what I figured it would be. They try to get you by sending you checks for $15 or so, and if you cash the check you're signed up. OP, have you asked when and how you signed up for this service?

What credit card company is this? How much was the fee and how many months did you pay it before noticing it?

Chase tried to take $0.25 of my rewards away on my PerfectCard -- "finance charges" after a few months of inactivity

I called them and made them credit it back, then I will request a check :) I would have let them keep the credit balance but since they took it away, well now they have it

I had a CC do this to me once. I love it how you have to call and "activate" your card, but it's really just a ploy to get your ass on the phone with your guard down. Then they blast you for 15 minutes over these extras.

I hung up on some stain after declining for 5 or 10 minutes straight. On my first bill it showed these services. I called, raised holy hell, and canceled the card.

I recently had a similar experience. I get these calls occasionally, I let them get 30 seconds into their schpiel, then cut them off abruptly and tell them I'm not interested in their offer.....then, of course, have to rudely cut them off 3-6 more times as they try in desperation to get me to sign up for the service with lines like, "but you never know...", blah-blah-blah-blah. I do know that I don't want your cruddy insurance, now go DIAF!!! :|

Low and behold, it seems that the last schmuck that called didn't like taking no for an answer, and signed me up anyways! I got a letter from the credit card company, congratulating me on signing up for their program, and telling me how uber-smart I was for doing so! WTF?!?!? I called them up immediately, told them under no circumstance did I EVER sign up for this program, that their representative signed me up fraudulently (good word to use in these circumstances), and that if they didn't UN-sign me from the program immediately AND ensure that I would see no charges on my bill for it, then I was going to raise holy hell!!

The girl I spoke with apologized to me, told me she didn't understand how that had happened, and guaranteed me I wouldn't see any charges on my bill for the service, and that I was removed from it. I made certain to get her name, so that if I do see any charges, that I can call back, speak to a supervisor, and raise even more hell with them.

You want to scare a credit card company, do like I did, and use the FRAUD word on them. They're required to follow certain laws, and if the attorney general thinks they're doing fraudulent activities on people in his state, you'd better believe they'll go after a CC company.....that's a great feather in their cap, come re-election time! And if there's one thing CC companies don't like, it's AG's with a fraud complaint coming after them! ;)

I had Chase pull this with me. I got calls over and over and over about that service and always said no. One last time, I specifically said "I do NOT agree to sign up for this service, but I want you to stop calling and make all communications from now on to be via US mail. I will read your offer and make up my mind at that time." So what did the little pigfvcker do? Signed me up for the fvcking service and not put me on the DNC list. I had to call back and get pissy on the phone but they finally agreed to cancel it, refund the charges, and agreed to only contact me by US mail.

Discover did the same damn thing to me.... They said that it was a "free" service, but I ended up with a $12 bill on first statement. I was able to get them to cancel it and refund the charges, though.

This is why I completely hate Chase. They call me EVERY SINGLE FVCKING DAY about this stupid protection crap. Leave me alone.

I had it put on a CC before, called them up had them drop the fees. I'm not sure who it was, capitalone, firstusa, or amex. I didn't bother going thru the regular csr's, I went straight to their fraud dept. They didn't hesitate taking off the charges.
