Need to catalog home vids and pics with Thumbnails

Does anyone know of a program out there that would allow me to catalog my home videos and digital pictures in a database and allow me to put which cd/dvd it is located on? I also would like it to have thumbnail pages/views of what is stored on the cd/dvd.
I have accumulated a ton of digital pictures (gotta love digital cameras) and now have alot of family videos in .avi and .mpg format that I am copying to dvd's for offline storage. However I want to be able to catalog them with thumbnail previews.

Preferably a free program but I will pay if it is worth the options included.

Have you tried Picasa? I am not sure if it does .mpg but it is a really nice, free, program.

Oh yeah..I forgot about that program. I used it a few years ago when it first was offered by Google. I will give that a try....hopefully it will allow me to catalog offline (CD/DVD) files.

Does Picasa have a web front - or something so I can share photos on web through it?

i use whereisit to catalog my dvd's of stuff.

you may have to use something else to make thumbnails. im not 100% sure if it will make them of videos. it does do them for pics.
