Need to capture pictures from video

Hello, I need some help. A friend took some video with his digital camera and now wants to make pictures from it. He is lucky to be able to operate the camera so he asked me for help and I am turning to the experts here. Looking for preferably free software to capture stills from his video. Nothing fancy, just need to get him some shots, not interested in video editing or all those extras. Thanks for any help, John

Media Player Classic can capture stills from videos.

Also, if you have a Nero suite, you can capture frames from Nerovision Express. It's the C key, as I recall.
