OK so my CRT blew the other day and I need to buy a new monitor, preferably LCD. I spent many hours the last two days looking for a good deal and apparently, not too many good deals going on at this time of the year.. I'm not too picky on the features like DVI, etc.. just want a good but inexpensive monitor for common usage. HEre are my options thus far:
1) Walmart has a generic 17" for $199 + tax (8.375% in my area) = $217 .. with a 3 year warranty supposedly.
2) Circuit City has an in-store generic (Proview) 17" for $224 + tax = $243 - $70 MIR = $193 .. 1 year warranty
3) Online - Acer 19" monitor for $249 - $15 instant rebate = $234 + free shipping. I would jump on it but having not bought a monitor online and hearing that they can come with dead pixels, I am a little hesitant. At the same time, it does have a 3 year warranty and no tax on it, but I'm wondering if those 2 extra inches are worth it.
4) Wait til a later date when better prices may or may not show up.. meanwhile, continue to use my wife's laptop.
p.s. above monitors are comparable in response time, etc.
help! thanks!
