Ok i need to get a laptop for college, i want something pretty decent. Big screen, can play games like couter-strike, rtcw..., and store alot of mp3s. Who is the best company to go to, like Dell, IBM, Sony? I really dont want one cause you cant expand or change anything nearly as much as on a desktop, but professor says i gotta have one...

Thanks,

At this moment, I would recommend getting a Dell. Good quality and decent support. I've been having problems with Toshibas (from HD's to batteries, so I would not recommend them.

dude you're not getting a dell.

if you want half an hour to an hour on hold, get one, and you can go ahead and flex your el cheapo plastic panels until you feel like you got that laptop with a mcdonalds happy meal.

if you want basically a desktop in a bag, get the toshiba satelite 5005 s507.

if not, get something from ibm, hp, or toshiba in the 2 spindle category. a good one is the toshiba 3005 , an HP omnibook 6000/6100 or on ebay try and get a toshiba t series like a t21 (wont be quite as expensive as a new t23).

you'll be the proud owner of a computer made out of magnesium alloy casing that feels like, it actually was worth the $1000+ you paid for it.

Hey that baby is pretty bad a$$. For 3400, you get 2.2ghz, 512ram, 40gb, cd-rw, dvd-rom...lots of stuff and 15". Ill have to look into that further, any reviews?
