I need to build a cheap new computer for someone but I also know that some games might be played. This is the amount of games that requires a fairly good video card now and then but nothin GF3 style...
I was thinking of
sis mobo (ECS is only one out?)
integrated sound
geforce 2 gts
20 gig harddrive
I think a cheap duron but would it be much better to go with tbird?
ddr ram since it is same price as sdr

any suggestions appreciated

How about this?

Duron 750mhz - $35
ECS K7S5A Motherboard - $65
256mb Crucial PC2100 DDR - $40
40gb IBM 60GXP HD - $105
ATI Radeon LE - $80
Sony 52X CDROM - $30
1.44mb Floppy Drive - $10
Inwin Mid-Tower Case w/ 300W PSU - $50

Total - $415

You could also replace the Duron 750mhz with a 1ghz Tbird for ~$40 more.

The new SiS chipset is a good choice. I just saw the ECS.
Video card is fine.
20 Gb is good size HD too.
If you are going to get like 800 Mhz Duron and you can get the same clock Tbird, go with the Tbird. Tbird is a lot better than the Duron.
But If the money is a problem stick with Duron.
Yeah go with the DDR memory.
Might be a good idea check on other video cards, save some money and get a better CPU like a 1 Ghz Tbird.

Good luck!
