I'm not looking for anything fancy. As cheap as possible my parents just need it as something they can view survillance online. Something like a 2ghz celeron would be enough I would want 512mb of ram since 256mb is kinda bottlenecking with xp. I don't need a copy of windows just the hardware. Something under $350 if possible.

Here's my budget system.

AMD Sempron 2600+ 1600MHz - $72
FoxConn 760GXK8MB-ERS - $59
1024 MB of pqi PC3200 DDR - $83
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 120 gb - $70

The motherboard has integrated graphic, sound, netword adapter. I also used the dvd and cd drives from my old computer. Since I don't do any gaming this system is fine for me. Some will rip on the maxtor but I've had good luck with maxtor but you can find cheap seagates or western digitals as well for a similar price.

If you don't want to build, here is a perfect computer for what they need and its only $349.99.

But if you still want to build:

Case/Motherboard with keyboard and mouse

PQI Memory

Processor

CD/DVD Drive

Hard drive

Total: $309.25

That case seems to lack a place for a floppy drive. My parents are still stuck on floppy disks for transfering files to and from work, etc.

Here, an external USB floppy drive.
