can you please send an email to darby.aoltest@spamex.com

it needs to be from the AOL 7.0 email client, and has to be in plain text (no html please)

i promise i won't spam you :p i just need to test something out... thanks!

while i'm here, has anybody noticed that aol 7.0 puts a <pre> tag at the beginning of the email, even though it's plain text?

i'm testing to see if aol's email client adds the <pre> tag even if you specify to send plain text emails. that is how the emails show up on one server i support, but i just want to make sure it's not just some weird problem with that server. i emailed aol tech support about it, and they replied with a very informative message about what HTML exactly stands for, and what it is used for.

I emailed qwest.com to tell me their online billing wasn't working and I got an email (5 days later after it was working) explaining how to go the online billing site and what it was for. These people must just have so many canned answers that they choose from, see some word -- e.g. HTML-- and hit "send" :)

It works fine for me. I run it on my XP test box. I am just waiting for them to get the weather working in the AOL companion.

i might have to download the latest release of 8, just to see whats there. but seeing as how i only use aol for email, and emergency dailup when all else fails.. 7.0 works fine for that.

Now is not the time to try betas unless you are serious about it. It is getting close to final release so they will be maing you download new revisions an a regular basis. It can get annoying.

thats the most annoying part.. thats the main reason i quit beta testing, becuase they'd block the previous revisions and i'd never be motivated enough to downlaod the latest release.

AOL isn't that bad a piece of software.. i guess i can understand why so many people hate it-- Its the same reason thier are so many Microsoft haters out there.

but it does what it does pretty good. provided a good interface for the average user to connect to the web with. its easy, and yet has lots of features at the same time.

i dont see why its so expensive though.. and if i didnt get it for free (family works for aol) then i doubt i'd keep it around.
