Need tips on buying scalped tickets!

Specifically, I'm thinking about buying Dodger opening day tickets. How have you gotten the best results? Tips for not getting screwed?

Generally I stay away from the guys outside the parking gates, the prices are extra-jacked up and there's too much pressure with people trying to drive behind you. I usually go inside, somewhere near the ticket booths but not too close, keeping an eye out for sellers along the way. I always haggle a little but they don't seem to budge too much. Of course I'm careful to verify the date and seat location, and I usually bring a little seating map with me.

Or do you think I should just bite the bullet and use an online ticket "service"?

<< Good luck. Here in Minnesota, they have undercover cops acting as scalpers to nab you. >>

That's something I never understood. Isn't that entrapment? How can it be legal for them to pretend to be doing something illegal in order to catch you....

this is opening day, so it's a seller's market. they may not be willing to deal as much since demand will be high. normally, i would say lowball them, haggle a lot. yes they will act incredulous and offended, it's part of the act. some scalpers *will* hustle you if they get the chance. watch for them trying to switch tickets on you right before you hand them the money. i don't think any are stupid enough to outright steal your wallet

Cant you just ask " Are you a cop" before buying the tickets?!?!?!? I think they have to disclose if asked directly.
