Need tips for dropping heroin addiction.

A former friend of mine is really hooked on heroin and can't get off it. He's already been busted a bunch of times and is in rehab for the last time before he gets sent to federal/state pound me in the ass prison for a long time. I'm sure atleast one person here has been hooked and managed to cut the addiction. What did you do? Are there any dirty tricks maybe using other illegal drugs as a step-down measure?

ouch. rehab is more or less your only hope, that sht is physically addictive as fvck.

it's a downer and well...there aren't too many downers there that's "non addictive" to help him step off it...

you could try smoking copius amounts of marijuana...

Don't they use methadone in the rehab clinics to get you off heroin? I don't know much apart from that

I don't know. But whatever the hell they use in rehab is not working because this guy has been through rehab countless times.

There's a new treatment available, essentially they anesthetize you and inject you with chemicals which hasten the detoxification process. What would ordinarily take two weeks of pure misery takes a few hours while you're knocked out. Of course that just takes care of the physical addiction; there's still the force of habit to contend with.

Then it may take some time in prison to wake him up. I hope things don't get that bad for him.

I saw that in ER 🙂

He has to want to. He doesn't, or rehab would have done it. I hate to say it, but you are waisting your time.

I had your attitude until I tried it, infact everyone I know that uses it from time to time had that attitude.

Like many things, it's fine in moderation.

The point I was trying to make -> I've heard of it being a good step down from heroin, for heroin addicts who are trying to stop.

The comment had nothing to do with my personal drug use.

edit: typo*

His getting involved isn't going to help. I'd just sit by and watch. You can't help people who don't want to be helped. They need to do it themselves.

it's really expensive.

evidently kicking a heroin habit isn't as bad as the tv/police/movies make it out to be . . sure, detoxing cold turkey in a jail cell is horrible but most people survive even that hell.

People who i know who were rather addicted to heroin told me that it is really bad for about 3 days . . . they need a quiet place, good nutrition and the support of a couple of friends . . about as bad as the flu.

do a search . . . i'm sure the truth is out there. 😉
