I tried it once and decided I liked it WAY too much.

I NEVER did it again!

I wish your friend all the luck in the world in kicking it!

DannyBoyAll your link proves that withdrawal from Heavy Alcohol addiction is probably more dangerous than Heroin withdrawal - that's all :p

and you're right, "It's not even worth arguing about with people that don't know what they're talking about."

You clearly don't know what you are talking about

I did it several times when I used to hang out with a guy I used to work with. I didn't find it addictive , he got hooked (but he's also hooked on alcohol, cigarettes, pot, and everything else, too). It stems from his lack of self control.

I don't smoke or drink, but I can take anything I want, and have, and don't get addicted.

No you're right, I don't.

My mother's only been in rehab several times over the course of my life, I've only studied withdrawal from depressants for 10 years.

No no you're definitely right, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

i have a friend who gave it up cold turkey after one of his friends OD'd and died in his bathroom.

that's been well over a year and he's been heroin free since. granted he's substituted it for vodka and MJ, but those take years to kill you.

DannyBoy is a classic example of someone who's f*cked in the head because of drugs.
That's the funny thing about people using drugs; they actually truely believe what they are doing is safe, fine in moderation, etc.

Get out before you are too f*cked, d00d.

No you retard, DannyBoy is the classic example of a well informed person who was brought up by a single mother who's been a substance abuser all of her life, or rather brought myself and her up

Don't spout false information on drugs, it's one of the few things I've done a LOT of research on, my recreational drug life has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I've seen first hand what stopping 'cold turkey' does to people and I know what it has done to a select minority that have died from excessive fitting.

You aren't in a state of understanding reasonable logic/knowledge, so i am not going to attempt to argue with you anymore.

I know too many people like you...it's sad.

Too many people like me?

You don't even know me, judgemental prick.

Actually, if you speak with him about it when you're not being a close-minded dickhead, he's remarkably intelligent and informed on such matters.

Would I ever try something like this? I highly doubt it. Do I respect Dan for knowing way too much about the things that have influenced his life and the lives of those around him whom he loves? Absolutely.

Stop being dickheads. If you're going to go back and for like this:

"yes huh!"
"nuh-uh!"
"yes huh!"
"nuh-uh"

Instead of just bantering back and forth about the issue, why don't you provide links YOURSELF to prove Dan wrong? He and I have spoken many times about quite a few controlled substances, how/why they make you high, what the negatives and positives are of heavily moderated usage of such things, etc. He's got his sh|t straight, that's for sure. I forget the link, which I would post if I could remember it, but he's got some kickass website that explains a CRAPLOAD of stuff about narcotics from an objective point of view. I find our discussions informative and objective.

If you cannot do the same, then you're no better than what you're accusing Dan of being: a close-minded idiot. Is he? No. Are you? If not, then quit yer yappin and post some links to back up YOUR side of the argument.

Now that I've said that, I'm going to go have some beer.

While I somewhat share your faith in the power of prayer, a response like that is typically met with ignorance and distain here.

Shock therapy is the only thing that will end up working I'd guess. Drug addictions are amazingly crippling.

Good god. SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP. ATOT is not a certified doctor, lawyer, insurance adjuster, pharmacist, realtor, or financial consultant. You should not ask for important advice here.

Let's play a little good idea, bad idea:

Good question: Was this chick sending me signals?
Bad question: Should I refinance my home?

Good Question: My car is making a rattling noise when I shift into third. Any ideas?
Bad Question: An airliner crashed in the field behind my house. Is all that burning jet fuel going to damage my lawn or the paint on my rear siding?

Good Question: How many pages should my resume be, roughly?
Bad question: My car is on fire, and I'm posting from my wi-fi connected car jukebox.

Good question: My digicam is broken, what is Canon's warranty policy?
Bad question: OMGOMGOMG, I just cut off my had with a band saw!!!! What do I do???? (you will be asked for pics before you get advice, seriously).

SO WHAT?

your personal experiences - have NOthing to do with DYING from stopping Heroin Cold Turkey - UNLESS it is a SEVERE habit [and i 'covered that' by suggesting cutting way back before quitting]. :p

AGAIN . . . IF you want to be taken seriously post RELEVENT links . . . withOUT it your "research" does nothing for me and i just won't take your word for it 'cause you 'say so'.:p

Don't they use methadone in the rehab clinics to get you off heroin? I don't know much apart from that

I don't know. But whatever the hell they use in rehab is not working because this guy has been through rehab countless times.

Then it may take some time in prison to wake him up. I hope things don't get that bad for him.

Yup finding Bubba in cell block A or maybe becoming a born again religious zealot

He's already in rehab. I would consider that important help. Since rehab isn't working I figured I would ask here incase there are some "street" ways to drop heroin that aren't as commonly known.

BTW I will update this thread when I talk to him, but that isn't going to be for two months because of various issues.

Works for me, but I'm just an alcoholic.
My brother's an addict. I ran him through two rehabs then had him thrown in jail for robbing me. He dried out in the clink, came out and hopped right back in.
If someone doesn't want help, all you can do is stand back, watch them die, and help put on a nice funeral.
Some have to die so others can live. Better him than me, period.
