Need the cheapest ALL Electric Windows/Locks Car

edro

Lifer
We are working on a project for our Senior Project in school where we will be remotely controlling a car's windows, locks, trunk, and anything else that is electric.

We have a good Honda CRX, but it doens't have power windows/locks.

What is a cheap @ss car that has power everything and that will run. That is all we need. It doesn't have to look pretty or anything. Something small such as a Metro or a CRV or a Civic would be nice, but we are kind of at a $1000 limit.

Again, it needs Electric everything, and it needs to run.

What model would I be able to find locally (typically) that fits this criteria?

(Columbus, Ohio)

THanks,
Ed

You can maybe find an old ass lebaron or spirit that has power everything for that price. Maybe a an old Cierra too.

You're scraping the bottom pretty bad there.

I agree.
I sold my LeBaron for $300 and it had power everything.
everything worked great too.

One of those old body-on-frame 'boats' would most likely fit the bill. Those tended to have all sorts of fun stuff like power locks/windows, AC, ect. You could also pick up a working model for just a few hundred.

Considering with this thing called "Keyless Entry", most cars equipped with it already remote control the locks, trunk, and a few other things.

For $1000, there are a few cars out there. Grab a local paper and start lookin'.

Its not hard to add power locks or windows. You could easily goto a salvage yard and get the power window regulators (easier then aftermarket retrofit) and just aftermarket lock actuators. If the only reason you want another car is for the power ammenities you're just asking for trouble. Buying cheap cars is never a good idea unless you run across an incredible deal (Friend bought a 89 Pulsar for $300. He changed the timing chain in a day and it ran fine. His little brother now drives the car daily.)

My 1989 v6 Toyota Cressida. 😀

Power locks, power windows, sunroof, power drivers seat, and even had a CD player. 😀 It'still going..... barely.😛

I don't think he plans on driving this thing all over the place 🙂

Up in Toledo there will be an '88 Accord LXi (power everything except seats) with 217,000 miles for sale soon... Trunk is actuated by a cable pull though.

*looks sad about having to give up an old friend, loyal and true*

i'd go for this too, it's you best bet for being cheap and actually running. you haven't mentioned why it needs to be small.

I guess not. I added power door locks to my car and and am more then satisfied. Yeah, power windows would be nice but its not worth it to me.

How much you want for it? Also, what are the known problems with it? And just to show off, what is the mileage! I bet it is over 250k.

My 92 Civic has 240k.
