I just got my 700E cB0 today which I pay $271.00 with shipping & it's running fine at 933 on 1.65v, previously I owned a 600E@800 at 1.65v & the temp was around 34-36C idle & sold it for $150.00 after I used it for a month. Now I have taken into consideration of the summertime heat, but my current idle temp is 37.1C, my room has no air conditioning & is pretty stuffy, but I do have the Globalwin FKP32 & a front case fan & a 300watt 2.01 atx power suply, plus my generic atx case has a lot of room & isn't crowded, I also know the 700E run a little hotter than the 600E, so should be a little concerned or is this pretty adverage?

I wouldn't worry about that temp, 3 degrees C isn't a cause for the concern, I would attribute almost all of it to the summer heat and possibly some to the extra 133 mhz. I don't really find much use in idle temps though, I like to know how hot it gets under full stress.

I am running my PIII700 @ 945 and idle temp is 29-32C on average. That's with 300W power supply and Golden Orb fan&hs with 2 case fans.

The position of the fan is very important ... make sure you have good air flow. A test I use is to tape small pieces of tissue inside my case so that I can see how the air is flowing. This will allow you to position case fans in the best positions. i.e. one fan blows and other draw.

well I just got my harddriver & my monitor cooler today, now that the harddrive cooler sucks in air also, I should have a more dust coming into my case & yesterday when playing vampire:tm the temp reached up to 40.9C. also the price I paid for my 700E is so low because I took a chance on buying a PIII 700E without the guarantee it would be a cB0.

40c is fine for internal diode temp. mine is usually around 43-45 when running seti, 650e@962 1.75v

My 700@933 runs in the low 30's in idle and upper 30's under heavy load. I have it set at 1.75V due to video card/power management problems.

Where is everyone getting their p3 700's? I would love to find a source for guaranteed ones.

the first 600E i brought was a cA2 & i was able to run it at 1.65 on an asus p3v4x, but due to wrong temp readings i sold that board for a soyo7vca & was still able to run it at 1.65, & now my 700E is also running at 1.65 on 133fsb but from your replys it seems that a small voltage increase doesn't affect the temp too much. also if you want to get a 700E with the cB0 stepping guaranteed, then pcnut sells them, but if you want to take a chance at getting a 700E with cB0 stepping, & the chances are much better now, you can save close to $100 if you take that change, retail 700E are selling for $249.00, also every cpu I've brought was a retail package because if it's oem i don't know if it's been used.

CB0 stepping means that it is the newest manufactured chip on the die from Intel ... it will allow you better overclocking speeds compared to the old CA1 steppings.

31-34C is pretty good for 973mhz, but what did you use to run it at full load & for how long? mines idle temp has been 32C the lowest & the higest is 41.1 at full long for hours playing vampire:tm, a pretty nice game, I just beat it 2 days ago, too bad the ending was so short. I don't know how high my cb0 700 can go, but i don't really like to go above 133 because my memory is pc133, my motherboard supports pc133 & so everything is still running at default speed while only the cpu is the only thin overclocked.

i used prime95 to put it at 100%
used task manager to check on the cpu load... it was at 100% when i ran the prime95 torture test...
that's also what i used to burn it in... usually 5-12hrs at a time

RayEarth: that temp sound right for a thermistor, not an internal diode unless you have peltier of water cooling. No way will a 973mhz cpu run 31C internal diode with just air cooling at full load

hahahaha....hhahahahaha....chinman75 that is very good that you can get it to run at 1001mhz at default voltage. but how can the cpu temp be 71C & case temp omly 28C? so funny how you got your cpu to 71C, the fan must not be spinning or it's not completely touching the cpu. is this a slot 1 or fcpga? my current cpu temp idle is 31.6C at 933 default voltage, I would never run at 1001mhz if the 71C cpu temp was part of the deal. once again. hahahha... thanks for the laughs
