Need Syntax SV400 audio help please

I recently purchased a set of Logitech Z-640 speakers and need some help configuring the audio setup on my Syntax SV400 motherboard, or properly plugging the speakers in to the audio jacks available.

The motherboard has standard green/blue/pink jacks but on the motherboard there are jumper settings that say something about left and right audio etc. (manual is lame.)

First time surround sound user (been using my trusty 400Watt Kenwood amp and it only supports 2 speakers no surround) and the Logitech speakers come with 3 plugs to be plugged in for 6 channel sound (an orange, gree and black.)

Upon further inspection your board does support 6 channel sound.

I use the exact same speakers (Z-640) with my Epox 8RDA+ NF2 motherboard.

Try this:

Mic-in = Subwoofer
Line-in = rear out
Line-out = front out

make sure you check advanced properties under sound volume in winXP to use those ports as outputs.

First of all you need to install the correct driver set for the audio codec you have there. Generic sound drivers don't let you set up the jack assignment. Consult your board manual for this information (usually it's a C-Media or Realtek ALC chip), then go to the respective website to download the driver.

That done, you then visit the driver's configuration utility, choose your speaker setup and jack assignment, and THEN plug your speakers as instructed. And off you go.
