Any input? Ive been considering getting a Delta Machinery table saw 1.5hp, but is the biesenmeyer fence worth the extra 200 over the delta t-2 fence?

Jet models are also decent looking.

Also trying to figure out which cordless drill to get, i currently just have a corded black and decker.

Im also making a list of bits, blades, accessories, etc, that I will end up needing within the next 6 months.

I have a 20% off coupon up to $2,000 so trying to buy what i need at once.

What are you going to use these for?

Going from having only a $30 drill to a $1k table saw...

For everything.

I already have a miter saw, circular saw, orbital sanders, router, etc

The "I just currently have a $30 drill" was in reference to the drill upgrade needed, not to my entire tool repository.

I also have clamps, sawhorses, etc.

and the table saw is closer to 600-800 depending on fence option and with 20% off thats $480 and 640$ not $1k

But yes i need something for cutting large sheets and putting dados in for all of the rack/shelving systems im building... i have been using a router for dado cuts but that is a pain in the ass and i have to jig the ****** out of it to make it straight.

Edit: also i make a lot of cuts on 2x2 and 2x4's that all need to be the same length. I get there 99% with the miter but i have to measure and cut and that takes more time/. With a table saw and a fence I can measure precisely and just whip through them without measuring each time

I would look at the Rigid Model TS3650 table saw...or look at the portable Dewalt for around $500 @ the depot

Do you have a table for your router...? That would be my first purchase.

Great resource...http://www.woodnet.net/

I intend on buying Ridgid cordless tools from here out. They include a lifetime replacement on the batteries.

I just bought a nice 19.2v Makita at Lowe's for 200 bucks. I"ve been very impressed with it so far. It has plenty of power and it comes with a spare battery. It also has a side grip and other useful tools/attachments.

If you're going to look at the portable Dewalt, might as well look at the portable Ridgid ($450). I was debating between the two and ended up with the Ridgid. If I recall correctly, the Ridgid could do slightly wider rips (26" vs 24" - not a huge deal when you're dealing with wood that's only 4 ft wide) and the fence felt more solid and stable.

As far as the drill, depends on how much you're going to be using it. The $100 Craftsman 19.2 v should be good enough for any homeowner. I wish I was in the market for a drill, because I'd try the 19.2v Kawasaki at Costco for $40 (lifetime guarantee, remember) :)

Good find...i didn't see the Rigid one...:)

I am looking at these myself...still using a $100 table saw from Lowes...

It works great, but it is limited at times.

If you are going to get a cordless drill, I would look at the Dewalt or Rigid 14v line...I have a 14v and an 18v drill. The 14v has better balance and is easy to manipulate...

I  tools
:)

Thanks for the input guys.

This would be my first table saw, I intend to get a mount for the router , was hoping to find a table saw with a spot for mounting it but all the ones im looking at dont have that option, and it would prob be more of a hassle than its worth.

I own a Ridgid 3650. AWESOME saw!! Very accurate right out of the box. Cast iron top, mobile, 36" cutting to the right and has a pretty nice fence (not a Biesemeyer, but nice and solid.) If you go to ridgidforums.com there's some threads in there about adding a router table extension to the right side of the table saw for about $30 in materials. :)

I was looking at the Rigid and it had good reviews. ($549)

The two deltas at home depot I was looking at were
Model 36-680 ($599)
and
36-682 with the biesemeyer fence

and I had heard good things about the Jet 708301K ($529)

I looked at the Deltas, but I needed a mobile saw (working out of a 2 car garage) and the Ridgid was kinda the bang for the buck saw. I've had it for about 8 months now and love it. It's a pretty quiet saw too.

I was looking for a bit last year. The item I would look for is just finding a model that has a base that is not warped. Whats the status on that company that had a patent that kept hot dogs from getting amputated?

Anyone have experience with this scary monstronsity? It claims 15 amp 3maxhp ? not sure what that means as far as claimed max hp

Maybe with all the tools running together it puts out 3 HP... I wouldn't touch that thing. I saw a Shopsmith demo once and was convinced I would never own an "all-in-one" kind of machine.

Honestly for the amount of space I have I dont want something all in one at the moment. Id prefer putting the full amount into a solid took instead of spending less and having an all in one.

I recently bought a new 18V cordless drill. My previous drill was a 7 year old 12V Milwaukee (used daily, original batteries), and I was quite impressed with that drill. Needless to say I intended to get another Milwaukee drill. That was until I met the new Makita drill...

18V, Lithium Ion battery, 15 minute charger, built-in light etc., but the best feature of all was the weight. This 18V drill weighs less (3.5lbs) than my previous 12V drill (4.3lbs)! I never thought I would buy anything other than a Milwaukee, but Makita changed my mind. The only downfall is the battery's capacity (1.5AH). That helps keep the weight down, but the 15-minute charger more than makes up for it's limited capacity.

$200 of pure bliss
