I take tons of photos and have a backup USB hard drive hooked up that I manually transfer them to. What is a good free software that could monitor my My pictures folder and automatically copy and new photos placed in there to the backup usb drive?

This works for me. I have my photos all backed up, or rather duplicated on 3 different external HDDs. Selected ones are also archived on DVDs.

I swear by syncback (they have a free version, it's not as pronounced on their page). But I also hear windows sync toy to be pretty good too.

I don't k now how active sync toy is, but I have syncback doing scheduled runs nightly.

i use Puresync at home and work. You can set backups or syncs and each time, it'll scan your designated folder for any changes or new files and transfer them to your backup folder. It also has an option to set an automatic sync based on time/date or if you plug in your usb device.
