Need suggestions for new ISP

I have decided that, instead of putting up with my ISP's slow speeds, downtime and port blocking bullsh*t, I'm going to switch to another ISP. The thing is, I don't know where I'd look for one. The only providers out here that I know of are the cable company and the phone company. Neither is good.

So, where do I start looking?

what was your old conn? i heard sprint has some good wireless 3-5mb for $40 a month but its only in some areas.. i wish we had it here

My current connection (the one I want to get rid of) is Charter Communications, which is the cable company I mentioned above. I get 768k/128k for $40/mo. The phone company (Ameritech, which I think is owned by SBC) offers ADSL at the same speed for the same price, but I can't get that here, since I'm too far away from the phone switch.

Thanks for link LoneWolf1, but it looks like nothing listed there is available right here.

It would appear that I am screwed for the time being.
