I've currently been looking at some of the HP models, but i was wondering if anyone in here had any experience directly to any good multifunction machines.

Advice is appreciated.

I've got a Brother MFC-4800 - bought for $299 @ Staples. It's really cool, but it's a B&W laser printer and a B&W scanner - don't know if it'll suit your tastes at all. I only print text, and rarely need anything color, so I decided that it was the best value for me to get a laser printer. Check it out at the Brother website.

So far I really like my Compaq A3000. It was only $99.00 from Staples, when they were on sale a few months ago.

You can find it at www.compaq.com under home/office solutions; I could not get a clean link to the final page.

It prints and scans well, and faxes using Windows XP fax software without a problem. It is probably a rebadged Lexmark X83 or similar, since it uses Lexmark ink cartriges and has similar specifications. It will also make copies without the PC (or with the PC turned off) just like the X83.

I also looked at some of the HP's, but they were in the $250 range. The A3000 would be worth a look if you could find it for less than the MSRP of $199.

Good Luck,
