Update, finally got a few test drives under her belt, she's settled on a Buick Enclave.
We drove the SRX, a Murano, a G7, GLK 350, and the Enclave.
We shitcanned the SRX because of the reduced headroom in the rear, her daughter is 16 and plays center in her BB team, I got in an SRX and nearly touch the roof, I'm 5'10", daughter is 5'9". we fit, but if you would hit a bump, it's headache time.
Murano, nice car, and would have been my choice, but it felt cheaper than the other cars, despite a similar price, and she didn't like the more aggressive handling of the Nissan. I drove a Cube and liked it quite a bit, but GF just laughed at me about liking it :awe:
The Q5 was very nice, but the option packages made it the most expensive choice, the base model for $37K didn't even have a power hatch, the packages were confusing (they call the base model the Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige, WTF??? they had tacked on aftermarket tow hitches to most of them and were charging a premium for everything they could. The dealer gave her a hard sell, she was the least interested in it and they forced her into an office & tried to do a hard sell, really pissed her off).
The GLK350 was ok, but a bit on the small side and the seats were very hard, it just wasn't very comfortable, the salesman told her the government required hard seats for safety puposes, LOL.
The Lexus dealer freaked out on her international driver's license with a US endorsement, and refused to allow her to test drive a car, I was disappointed, because I liked the RX350 the best of the group I wanted her to try. Asshats. I could have gotten them to allow her to drive it, but she didn't want me to make a fuss, their loss of a cash sale.
The Enclave is the quietest car I've ever ridden in, and she loves it.
Will do the Costco deal and her employer has a discount program with the dealership, they said they'll give her both discounts, so it's a fair deal, not a killer deal like I'd prefer, but a good deal.
